Haven't seen "The Salt of the Earth" .Ab Jenkins own story of Speed. By Ab
Jenkins andWendell J Ashton. Surely Wes you have this one squirreled away
somewhere ? Gotta love the part where Ab tells about racing the locomotive
to Wendover in a 1925 Studebaker with balloon tires(first one in SLC).
After 15 railroad crossings ,the former Salt Lake Mayor beat the train by 5
mins ! Gotta love those Studes!Written in 1939, there is also a nice update
on son Marv Jenkins rebuild of the Mormon Meteor 3 beginning in 1991.
Only 125 pages, but as Ab Jenkins called the salt flats,"The 8th Wonder of
the World" It's an easy read with many historic photos including Harvey
Firestone,George Eyston,Sir Malcolm,and John Cobb.
