Okay, here's a question that was pondered previously on the list, but the
answer got lost in a cloud of "if"s and more questions. What constitutes a
positive fuel shut off? If a mechanical pump is used, does turning off the
motor suffice?
What about a typical door slammer with a fuel cell in the trunk? I've put a
fuel cell in the trunk. Ten inches from that is a fuel filter. Four more
inches is an electric fuel pump. Then 1/2 aluminum tubing runs along the
outside of the frame to the engine compartment. I have a separate switch for
fuel pump and ignition in the cockpit. My positive power disconnect has a nob
outside the trunk lid. When it is turned off, the fuel pump cannot run. Is
that a positive fuel disconnect?
Last time around, somebody said that an actual valve in the fuel line wasn't
needed except on fuel injected cars. What gives? What do I have to do to make
this right? Do I have to install an actual valve in the fuel line with a
handle mounted outside the car next to the power disconnect nob?
