It is not recommended on critical parts, due to the potential for hydrogen
embrittlement as well as trapped etching agents which could continue to
react with the base metal.  Also due to it's thickness, it can mask a crack.
Of course why would you build a non-critical part out of chrome moly?  It
looks great though, doesn't it?
