Salt corrodes. Otherwise I never noticed any problems. When we had the air
intake in the wrong place we used to see salt on the spark plugs so I know
we ingested some salt but all I saw was rust. Now I give the motor a shot of
oil in the cylinders after Bonneville.

Subject: Salt Combustion?
> I was just having my morning coffee in front of a tape of old Bonneville
races. I noticed a couple lumps of salt inside the mouth of the air intake
of one car just as it was being pushed off the line. What effect does salt
have on the motor when ingested, mixed with gasoline, and ignited? I KNOW
what sand does, what does salt do?
