I'm buying a new helmet for lsr, and want to make sure I get one that has
the Snell M2000 rating. KBC brand has received some rave reviews, so I
shopped around on the web yesterday, found good prices, but couldn't satisfy
myself that the thing had the Snell label in it. In one of the photos a
sticker is shown on the back, right above the DOT sticker. I called their
offices but only found folks that don't share a native language with me, so
I don't know if their reassuring words were to the point in question.
So I asked the guy that wrote one of the reviews, and here's his response.
And also, am I not correct in assuming that an inspector at Maxton or on the
Salt will demand more than just a sticker on the back?

Hi Jon:
Thanks for visiting webBikeWorld and for writing! I went upstairs to check,
and the VR-1 pictured in the article does not have a sewn in label that says
anything about Snell approval. But my feeling is that there is no way they
could claim approval in the USA without actually having it -- they'd get
sued so fast they'd be out of business in no time!
The tracks and/or clubs around here usually have a list of approved helmets
and they go by that. I haven't experienced anyone looking for sewn in
approval labels. I will see if I can find anything out from KBC about why
they don't sew a label inside.
Cheers,
Rick.
