Larry;
The 1999 VOC regulations have torpedoed lots of the best existing paints and
they are either now modified or off the market.
I just checked with Lord Corporation about my old favorite polyisocyanate
urethane paint, Chemglaze A & Chemglaze Z but they discontinued that line.
Too bad, it was the best stuff I ever used-- hard, tuff, flexible, and
glossy. It was originally made for high performance aircraft, locomotives,
tank trucks, or anything else that required a tough, chemically resistant
coating.
I recently coated my new workshop floor with an industrial urethane coating
from Sherwin-Williams and it looks alot like the old Chemglaze-- a nice,
hard, glossy YELLOW! I got tired of the gray floors that I've always had in
my garages. I wonder if this stuff could be painted on a chassis?
I also wonder if Dupont reformulated Imron or if they just had a few batches
with problems? Their technical people are usually pretty helpful.

Subject: Imron paint
I have used DuPont Imron for years on frames and such with no problems at
all
until recently. I mix the activator and paint and started painting and it
looked like a lot of air bubbles on the surface. The activator was about a 1
year old and kind of thick so I went to the paint store and bought new
activator, mixed it and it worked like it should. Yesterday I mixed the
activator which was now about a month old with new paint and had some small
bubbles again on some parts of the inner fenders that I was painting and
also
it had some lines in it like checking when it dried. I have always used
DuPont's self etching primmer with no problems. I know they have took out
the
lead in the new imron maybe it just isn't as good anymore. Has anybody on
the
list had any similar problems. At $100.00 a quart with activator I'm about
done with this paint!!! Larry Mac
