In Aus a purling is the same as described by Scott they come in two section
types "C" and "Z" and different gauges and are mostly gal coated steel

A "purling" used in steel building construction is a channel, or "C"
shaped piece of steel......more like really heavy sheetmetal, very strong,
yet lightweight. Maybe this is what they're talkin about........have'nt seen
the article. Sounds like it would work.....
they come in many width, probably to 16" or more.
