Hey y'all -
I saw something I never thought I'd see this weekend at Maxton - a mid 70's
Corvette that was running a Soybean-Oil fired Diesel engine. I think they
actually got up around 90-something with it. The entry was from the U.T. -
speaking with them they had a car that could be EXTREMELY well fueled here -
the engine ran on methane gas, collected from an on-board generator that
runs on cow manure. Yup - someone's finally come up with a way to make
Bullshit go.
We had us some racin' this weekend. Dad - I hope you are able to get Miss
Lucille fired up in time for May's run - she sounds GREAT on the bottle.
The Diesel liner was very nice to see, this truck had an exhaust that was as
big around as my waist.
There was a VERY nicely done, handbuilt retro-custom camper there, imitating
a 1929 ?? truck. Acid washed copper siding, brass bunk beds and pine
paneling inside - a really nice piece of work. The owner really outdid
himself in letting everyone that wanted to see it in for a tour, complete
with construction pics. If this guy builds a race car - it'll be done well.
Mark "Mr. Clean" did well on his production GSXR, and Todd "Busa" Brooks is
getting a bit big for his britches, fussin' about running "only" a 209.
:-) Scott Cowle is sooo close to 180 - he'll get there this year, I'm
certain. I'm looking forward to seeing Keith's Camaro back in action - this
new motor oughtta get the groceries home QUICK!
Thanks to everyone at the ECTA for the professionalism and concern displayed
when I had my little tumble at the turnoff. I was mad and embarrassed -
y'all handled the situation with aplomb. I apologize to any of the racers
for the delays my mishap caused.
Lastly - does anyone have an email address for Scott Guthrie?
As always - a visit to Maxton is a refreshing reminder that there ARE some
genuinely good folks still around.
