No Ed, on the Hilborn all the fuel for the system flows through the
barrel valve, so on closed throttle on the overrun, the flow is cut back
to say 10% of full flow, which will probably not interfere with a smooth
pick-up when the throttle is opened again. Talking about unblown gas
engines now. When you get into blowers and/or fuel some other issues
may arise.
BTW, last week somebody mentioned that the Hilborn would not pick up
well because of having no accelerator pump system, but on the contrary,
the practice is to set the barrel valve just a little rich on the idle
setting, to cover the "tip-in" transition, and in practice the engine
responds instantly to the throttle. Bill
