I always found in the days of clear plastic seat covers that the same
thing would happen with them. Turned out that as my fanny slid across the
seat it generated static electricity. Unless I was holding ont something that
was grounded (the steering wheel rim generally isn't) as I slid in, static
electricity was generated and stored in my body. When I eventually touched a
ground I got zapped as the charge jumped the gap between my finger and the
ground source. I became the electrode of a spark plug......Ardun Doug King
