as you probably know, they "sproing" because of residual stresses from the
original weld-up. If you have a full-service welding shop nearby, get them to
give your headers a thermal "stress-relief" process (in an annealing furnace).
A
good shop will know how to do this correctly, and it won't be expensive. Then
when you cut them, they will "sproing" a whole lot less.
