Ed & List,
There are a number of companies like Eagle, some we deal with (Engine
Works). We also sell some Eagle stuff now and then. I can't say 100% for
sure on Eagle but what I hear is that these parts are made offshore ( China
is a good bet) but not finished there. They are shipped to the US and
finished here in the US. Memphis Tenn. is where Eagle products are
"finished". My bet is there's something to do with classifying the import
duty? Some of the product was offered to us (MMS) because it doesn't clean
up right. We did not bite.
I know that nobody in Winston Cup uses Eagle parts but that doesn't
necessarily make them bad. We've never had anyone return any import stuff
due to defects. I do know that for a long time now Japanese steel has been
better than US steel (for whatever that's worth?)
