With all the talk about weight and ballast I thought I would tell about the
scales I made. I know a lot of you dirt track people know about these. These
are low tech like the rest of my operation but I think they are close to
being right. I took and made a frame out of 1inch pipe 30 inches long and
about 12 wide, then put a 1/4 plate by 6 inches high welded on the end, that
sets on the floor. The other end sets on some bathroom scales with a plate on
the scales. Now weld a plate that will pivot on top of the frame 10 inches
from the end where the 6inch plate is and this is where your tire will set.
This will make it a 3 to 1 ratio now if your scales reeds 100lbs you know
that corner is 300lbs.You need 4 sets to put under all the wheels. We checked
my friends car with some high dollar scales and we were within 20 lbs. I know
this is as clear as mud you might find a web site that has a picture. Larry
