List,
I'm sure I'm not the one that will be officially reporting this, nor will
this note cover all the important news from Maxton this weekend. However,
the weekend was windy! a strong headwind that was relentless. A good turnout
of happy LSR folks and once again an excellent job by the ECTA staff,
volunteers and officials.
I went back to Maxton this weekend determined to put the Bird back over the
200 mark and we did it, at 201+ despite the wind. I changed the rear gear
ratio, took some of the flare out of the front fenders and put a new carb
on. I think the carb was the major improvement, BTW, it was built for me by
Quick Fuel Inc. out of Bowling Green, KY.
But the big news was that my alternate driver, Bridgette Krompass of
Krompass & Speed, drove the Bird to 201 also! The first female in the ECTA
200 MPH Club! (I think she may have beat my Saturday run) I'm proud of her
and to be a part of something she'll never forget. It was a truly happy end
to a great LSR season for me.
The other news will come out from people who pay attention to things I
don't. (the smart ones)
