Bill, I don't want to sound like some wize guy, but the Ford Tri-Motor was
flying in the 1920's long before Ford had a V8. Bob in connecticut

You might find some information in the history of the Ford Tri-Motor.
The original plan was to use some type of Ford V-8. When that didn't
work out, they installed the radial aircraft engines. At least that
what I was told by a guy who owned a Tri-Motor. (The Flying Lady)
