Ok, you all asked for opinions. Hell, I got a lot of them, mostly wrong.
Having administerd to some of the ECTA events in keeping a web site up with
the speeds, events etc... I found that if there was no vehicle it was no
problem to administer. Now that may sound odd but if no body runs in a
class, it does not take anything to keep it up. So why are we adding or
dropping classes. Make all engines for all car classes. Does not take any
added effort. Even if someone does show up in an odd class and runs a
"record" so what. It only takes a minute or so to do the book work. And if
it does not show up ever again, again, it takes no effort to maintain. Maybe
this was true before computers, but certainly not now. The real problem to
me is insuring that a vehicle meets a class and per the riules that is up to
the participant. Only safety is teched and that goes for any vehicle no
matter the class or motor or whatever. I do think the class categories are
ok but again there is a simple procedure for getting a class included. Why
is it hard? Why do we (you) need to have three participants asking for a new
class...why? It does not take any more effort than is already being expended
to maintain a new class.
There, I feel better now. Where is the ladder to get of this damn soap
box.....
