I'm not sure why my first post didn't make the list.
Fiberglass bodies with moulded doors are OK as long as they are exact
dimensional copies of a stock body. Rear fenders must be mounted in the wheel
arch and may be bobbed to the bottom of the body. The reasoning is to have a
"street" roadster that is somewhat different from a pure "race" roadster (F/G
classes).
Be glad you no longer have to have working headlights, taillights, horn, etc.

Don't think that wording would be a very accurate definition of a rear
fender, but some where along the line the correct wording has gotten lost.
It has been generally assumed, ever since I have been involved with LSR,
that /STR's have rear fenders. Looks like the rules committee needs to
revise or clarify this requirement in the book.
The wording has been the same since I can remember. The reference to "panels"
includes all body pieces. The sentence which lists a number of body pieces
includes the word "etc." That would indicate that all parts of the body,
including rear fenders, must be of stock dimensions and mounted in the stock
location. The paragraph on page 49 which lists the "optional" body pieces does
not include the word/s "etc." or "rear fenders".
Take the advice of the people on the list who have responded and mount the
fenders.
