Hi folks, for those following the ongoing saga of the Allard part of the
Ardun story, an article out of "Vintage Sports Car Magazine" (not dated)
came to hand.

It states in part, that the second prototype J2 Allard, #J1515, was
built at the Allard factory in '49 and raced at a meet at Silverstone
(England), driven to third place in a production sports car race by
Leslie Allard. Afterwards, the engine was removed and the car was
shipped to Zora Arkus-Duntov in New York. Zora then installed an
Ardun-Ford in the car, and raced it in the '49 Watkins Glen GP, and in
January '50 raced it at a meet in Palm Beach, Florida.

The car was then sold to one Robert Wilder of Mass., who raced it in
SCCA events through the '52 season, with considerable success. Wilder
was killed in '53 racing another Allard.

J1515 then disappeared from sight, surfacing in Texas in '88, and was
subsequently restored by Allard specialist Tom Turner of Texas. He put
it back to '49 trim and displayed it at the Monterey Historic Races in
'90, where it won a trophy given by FoMoCo for the most significant Ford
or Ford-powered car. Zora attended this meet and a couple of photos
accompany the article, one showing him in the car in '49, one in '90.
The article concludes with the info that the car now belongs to Gerald
Lettieri of Rocky Hill, CT.

Cheers, Ardun Bill
