I came,i saw, i did not conquer at The Maxton Mile. You might think i'd feel
totally bummed as my K/GL #440 (as pictured on landracing.com,thank you Bill
and Dee Bennett) ,failed to perform this weekend, especially after driving
1357 miles and 22 hrs round-trip from NY,right ? Wrong ! I can't begin to
relate the positive experience of finally meeting face-to-face the people
i've been communicating with Cyber-ly for so long. John Beckett,Joe
Timney,Keith Turk, Chuck Rothfuss, and both the ECTA people and the Racers
all made it a almost perfect day.The weather was perfect,i passed Tech, met
some great people, what else could ask for? So my voo-doo drivetrain weirded
out on me,but i'll be back.My time slip was 42 mph,and i mentioned to a
group including Hot Rod's Dave Freiberger that how many racers will prolly
more than triple there trap speed (hopefully) on there next trip to Maxton.
And,everything you've heard about Turk is true. The suit, the
coke,girly-car,et al. And he dragged along a few fellow Alabamians, total of
3,entire graduating grade school class of the 90's...........Seriously,the
event, the people, the machinery makes me quote Keith "Life IS
good"................Thank You ......Bob Wanner
