Bill, you might check out some motorcycle shops
too. If I remember right, the Norton 850
Commando motor had some really big and long studs
that held the head and jug down. They'd be
metric of course, but they might give you some
grade 8 stock to start with.

Jeeze, they might make some stuff like that for
performance applications in Harley drag bikes
that would even be the right size! Check out
your local outlaw Harley race shop.
