The insight is the gas/electric hybrid... would you classify it by the
displacement of the internal combustion engine, or as an electric (for which
I thought that there were only special construction categories)??
If classified as gas, could the electric motor be retained ?
Essentially the same questions apply to the Toyota Previa. If it ran as an
electric would the engine/generator set be considered a battery ?
The only LSR precedent I know of for hybrid thermodynamic cycles is the
"turbo compounding" rule, apparently allowing the use of "turbo machinery"
to drive the rear axle if it is feed only exhaust gasses (the "compressor"
is an internal combustion engine) and bumping the engine to the blown
classification. There was a thread regarding that rule on this list several
months ago.

While on the subject of deviant thermodynamic cycles, the old rule books
(1992, at the top of page 11) listed an Omega class, for "Engines using a
thermodynamic cycle other than Otto". Did the turbine class replace that ?
How about thermodynamic cycles other than Otto or turbines, where would they
run ?

Regards to all,
Greg

Bill

Looks like a perfect /ALT or /CC to me.
