This is something my wife wishes were not so....I am a car junkie. i counted
out almost 10 years ago at over 300. i have given up since then. i had 3
cars in the wing when i was 15 and didnt have a license. My first three were
very fun..1936 Nash (150.00) nice driver, 66 alfa romeo spider (300.00) ,
1953 ford ranch wagon 2 door, free for the moving. I used to roam the
streets looking for cars with spider webson the windows and leaves piled
around the tires. i would go knock on the door and ask if they wanted to
sell the car. I usually got a yes response and i rarely spent over 500.00. I
would bring them home and polish them up., fix the little annoying things
and turn them. Used to keep alot of extra cash flowing, and keep a few
neighbors angry if i got more than 2 projects going at once. I did this all
through college, in fact a 50.00 datsun station wagon was sold for 1500 to
purchase an engagement ring! I thought i had 1500 in the bank when i ordered
the ring, but being math wiz that i am it was an incorrect entry...150.00.
so quick sell of the surf wagon to pay off the ring. I think i caught the
infection from my father. He had a weakness for airplanes. He would buy one
fix it and sell it for fun. we had stearmans, aeroncas, cessnas, some others
comming and going. We also did a dozen Bug eye sprites and AH 3000s. We got
tired of the British cars after awhile and began to tinker with alfas. My
favorite alfa was my 1967 GTV which was my college chick mobile (i thought).
My wife always thought it was a Karman Ghia! ouch. SO i could go on but
wont. here are some of my favorites owned list. I dont regret letting any of
them go. they have their time and place. i have a penchant for tracking down
well known cars. i like the hunt. i have found a few and here are a few of
my favorites. I know keith, this is not a bio, but it is a beginning eh?
giving some room for digs.
