I'd like to add a note to what Glen said since we support him during Speedweek
and sit at the far end of the long course. For the people who don't know us, we
meet the racers at the end of their run (long course). Before the event, Ed
and I try to walk around the pits and check out any new cars and talk to the
owner/driver in case they have anything they want to show us (since we don't
often get a chance to look at the vehicles during inspection).
Most important we let them know who we are and we will be driving up to them
after their run and not to worry - or think something is wrong. We let them
know we are just making a courtesy call. Every morning before the race we drive
around the pits to see if there are any new vehicles.. Several times, racers
have approached Ed to swing by their pit and look at their car to show him some
of the features and/or if they are having a new driver. When we watch a
seasoned racer, we pretty much know where they'll turn off and can position
ourselves. If we know of a new driver, we would be more apt to position
ourselves somewhat different so as to be in the best possible location if
anything should happen. We want to be as prepared as we can whether its an
emergency or just helping anyone out of their vehicle. Cris & Ed, Salt Lake
