Yeah, and I had major tread separation on some Firestones in 1985 on my '81
Audi 5000 T too. No accidents but I was ticked off at having to find a
dealer while on vacation to replace the tires. Not very co-operative about
it at that time and no NHTSA investigator breathing down their necks. A set
of Pirelli's solved the problem.

Yuk, Yuk. Yuk. Funny you should say that. I had
three OEM Firestones come apart on my F-150 - but
I figure about the only things that OEMs and
police or performance tires got in common are:
black rubber and almost round in shape.
