Go for it!  We racers don't care how many classes there are.  We know that
the SCTA (you in particular) will administer all classes fairly.

As to electronics, when the interpretation for vintage classes came out (no
electronic nuttin') I removed my rev limiter and shift light and ran with no
gages whatever.  No big deal.  Dual points, big coils, and shift by ear work
just fine.
