Point taken, but it is not just the thieves we worried about, it was
all the law enforcement and the immigration folks as well. We would
cross the Canadian border an average of 10 times a year and you
haven't lived until some little twerp tells you to unload the entire
trailer so they can check for contraband.
No particular reason, nothing personal, just routine. Most of the time
the ones that got nicked were the ones with the graphics (one gal told
me it was because they were perceived to have more money). We would
always allow 7 extra hours or more to get across the damn border and
avoided some ports of entry altogether even though it put a couple
hundred more miles on the trip.
Otherwise, I am with you, let's dress up the cars and push trucks.
