Fossil Fuels

Copper and other elements occur in the rocky material that makes up the
planet and is present,  I assume, in all the other stars and planets
that make up the universe.  But, how does liquid crude oil get down in
huge pools hundreds or thousands of feet below the surface, in many
places throughout this planet?
