We have tried several different radio optionsover the years.
4 watt UHF hand helds are good for 4 to 5 miles point to point,
5 watt VHF hand helds about 1 mile farther. You might be able to rent hand
held radios on an "itinerent" frequency, if you do get several channels
because you might intefer with the event radios or a competator with a radio
system.
