Hey everyone.
I have been going crazy of late with my home
renovation, fixing the old race car , building the new
race car and changing jobs ( interviewing like
crazy)-- so I have been away from the list .
I did get a chance to watch and tape the show last
night . I think that we all need to remember that most
of us would be considered hard core racers in a motor
sport with little or no sponsorship. The guys who
would get the most attention are the fastest guys .
When they cover drag racing they show the top fuel
,funny car, and pro stock guys. The sportman people
who make up most of the sport get limited or no
coverage. Too much eplaining to do I think. How would
you eplain my car? Engine size ? Make ? Huh?
Probably because we are in it , no show would do the
sport justice. For the uninformed ( my fiancee for
example )she was at least able to see what it was all
about . Of course now she's scared that I am building
a car.
I bet if you talked to Al Teague or Don Vesco they
thought it was pretty good.
I think it is important to remember that outside
interest in the sport is a good thing -- whether it's
in the unlimiteds or the little guys and gals which
are the backbone of the sport .
Just a soon to be non-lurker, non spectator putting a
1954 motor in a 1978 car trying to become a part of
history...
