Don,
A 'Land Vehicle' (or a 'Water Vehicle') becomes an 'Air Vehicle' when it no
longer needs to take a bearing on the ground to support it. For example
although a hovercraft doesn't touch the ground when it is working, if you
try to take it to an altitude where it can no longer create the high
pressure region below it then it will fall back to a level where it can. A
car/bike is the same, the difference being that as it's bearing on the
ground is mechanical the altitude is zero.
