List,
Way off the racing subject but the recording of the Bonneville 1960 sounds
had interrupted listening to my favorite Christmas albums. Now the tapes
are made I have turned back to one of my other loves ... Jazz. The death
last week of Charlie Byrd (who just recorded his 100th album) reminded me
that his 1997 "Christmas Carols for Solo Guitar" along with the 1996 Dave
Brubeck solo piano album "A Dave Brubeck Christmas" are two of the nicest
and most respectful treatments of Christmas music ever recorded. If, as I
do, you buy an new album each year for Christmas I can strongly recommend
either of these. They really put you in the holiday mood.
