boogie man - thanks for the thumbs up on our ride - appreciated - i think
what i was trying to say was dont worry (whine) about someone running
electronics in your class, it is not going to stop you or anyone else who
is not an advocate of them from racing out there. i think you will always
be able to run cars without electronics on the flats as long as the
government doesnt step in and shove emission requirements up racers' butts.
i do not think electronics will make land speed racing a rich mans sport at
all, like i said, you can run a garbage can on wheels out on the flats as
long as it meets safety specs. and lastly, as i see electronic applications
for race vehicles, they are more of a means to accurately, reliably, and
easily control and monitor engine parameters and not really a device which
adds horsepower. its like cookin hot dogs and beans, you can do it with a
woodstove , or a microwave - both can cook em just as well, but one is much
more convenient and accurate. by the way, if you think new technology
cookie cutter marshmallow electronic cars are going to gobble up all your
records, stop and take a look at racers like earl wooden, chauvin emmons,
george fields, and tom bryant and the vintage style cars they are
campaigning and their continued success in todays land speed, from what
i've seen , nobody is gonna "bomb" them, thats for sure.
