Well finally some progress, or at least two steps forward . Today we got
the fuel injection working properly. It’s been running for several weeks
now, but between faulty O2 sensors, manifold vacuum leaks, coolant leaks,
fuel leaks and a laptop that was absolutely frustrating to work with we
have reached the point where its time to put it on the track and see what
it will do.
I’m still climbing the learning curve with this Speed-Pro computer, but
I’ve got it sounding very crisp and clean. Can even get the little 258" to
idle at 1,000 RPM with it’s huge overlap cam.
Next weekend will tell the tale. Hoping for 180 MPH in the mile. Hope
to
get some aerodynamic testing in also. Anybody ever tape yarn to the side of
the car to see how the air flows over the body?
