Ouch =E2=80=93 bummer Dave. Sorry I cannot help, but your post is just =
one more noting the poor quality of reproduction trim =E2=80=93 it is so =
disappointing that we cannot get quality replacements. If I were you, =
I=E2=80=99d shop around for some good old ones regardless of quality and =
get them re-chromed. If you don=E2=80=99t it will always bug you.

=20

Also, I believe it is possible to install the fender spears with the =
fenders in place, albeit it is awkward, so they should not hold you up. =
At least that is the case with my BT7. I am not sure if there is =
anything on later models that may make it more difficult; the brake =
servo for instance =E2=80=93 perhaps others can comment on that. It is =
the air vent tubes that make it awkward. If you are installing those =
later, then putting the spears would be much easier. FYI, installing =
the vent tubes with the shroud in place is a bear, but doable with =
patience and good garage vocabulary.

=20

Good luck, Mirek

=20

Hi all. I am in the process of assembling my freshly painted Healey. =
Back in 2015 I had everything re-chromed (I thought). Today I was =
planning to put the front fenders on the car and remembered that I have =
to install the rechromed fender spears first.=20

=20

Well, time has a way of erasing things that you needed to remember. I =
now do remember that in the process of removing the chrome spear on the =
drivers side, the studs snapped. So apparently back then, I sent =
everything out to the plater, with the exception of the spears. =
I=E2=80=99ve now remembered and realized that I had purchased a =
reproduction spear from Moss for the drivers side (and I guess I =
intended to just re-chrome the original for the passenger side, but =
never ddid). So today I put the repro on, and was extremely disappointed =
with the quality. It has many ripples. Also I now find I have nothing =
for the passenger side. Car assembly is now on hold. Phooey!

=20

Two questions:

=20

1 Does anyone have a set of re-chromed originals that they =
would be wiling to sell?

2 Are there any sources for high quality reproduction =
spears?

=20

Thanks for =E2=80=9Clistening=E2=80=9D.

Thanks all on the responses to my question on the 3M trim adhesive. =
After viewing a demo on youtube, I managed to get good results, and my =
boot lid gasket is now securely in place.=20
