Michael,
There are several of those buffers at various locations on different models=
. I know the ones you mean on the 3 chromed steel top bow retainers, I cann=
ot believe that they were the shape of those available now originally as th=
ey get crushed, pulled out , tear etc in a matter of a few months.
On the 6 cyl. cars you have one size on the rear shroud where it meets with=
the lower lip of the boot, then you have two small ones on the doors where=
it meets with the swinging part of the door handle, then 2 more on the sid=
escreen mounting arms and two more on the top front corner of the sidescree=
ns, one per side.

Whilst researching for the Guidelines some time ago I spent quite a bit of =
time on those boot lid buffers. Part No. 4G8595
They are somewhat illusive!
They appear in the 100 parts list as being used in the 3 chromed steel top =
bow retainers but no mention of any buffers for the boot lid.
They appear in the BN6 parts list as being used on the mounting arms for th=
e side screens and for the boot lid although oddly they aren't listed in th=
e part number index for the boot lid location.
They are listed in all the 3000 parts lists for the boot lid.
As far as I can figure the buffers used for the chromed steel top bow reta=
iners are significantly smaller than those used for the boot lid or for tha=
t matter the side screen mounting arms. (See photo).
All a bit confusing however I will work on a Guidelines correction regardi=
ng these.

The three button buffers on the tri-carb are 14mm x 3mm.
On my BN2 they are slightly wider =96 15mm . . . and looking a bit worse =
for wear after 67 years. I must replace them.
In Imperial measurement, let=92s say 9/16=94 x 1/8=94
I didn=92t pull one out to check the diameter of the spear.

Subject: [Healeys] trunk lid rubber buffers
What is the size for the three rubber buffers for the boot lid? I have a ba=
g of about 50 and wonder if they are correct for that application.
The painter put some on that are way too large in diameter.
Thanks,
Ken Freese
