I'd check the flexible oil pressure line that goes from the block to the fi=
rewall.=C2=A0 These get fragile with age and can start spouting oil if bump=
ed when working on the right side of the motor.

changed oil in a club member's tri carb.=C2=A0 went to get gas and noticed =
lots of oil under car.=C2=A0 by the time i got back had lost about 4 qts or=
 more of oil on a few mile drive.=C2=A0 coming from rear of engine and comi=
ng out bottom joint and cotter pin hole. was only a small drip before oil c=
hange.=C2=A0 assume it is coming from rear main, but could it fail that fas=
t?=C2=A0 any other places to look?

Most owners of Healeys areinterested in the previous ownership history of t=
heir cars, but there is noother place except the=C2=A0 BJ8 Registry (for BJ=
8s, of course) where the continuousownership record can be documented and p=

veto decide what we want to spend our time doing. Driving a Bugeye is a lot=
 morefun to most people than restoring a car.

ListersWe have 57 years under our seatbelts in the red car, our 1955 BN2. A=
s far as I know never stolen or badly abused during the first 10 years of i=
ts existence. But must say the body required repair when it was purchased. =
The factory didn=E2=80=99t spend a lot of money on paint back then. IN 1965=
 it was really a big deal to fork out $275 US for a 10 year old car. Had a =
lot of fun over the years and it has enabled a lot of great long lasting fr=
iendships.=C2=A0Memories!!!!Perry

Make sure the oil filter is sealed properly=3DE2=3D80=3DA6the trail from a =

  Double check the drain plug. Try a new copper gasket and check the drain =
plug flange on the oil pan for burrs or nicks. Touch up with a file if requ=
ired. If the engine is original there is no rear main seal to fail just the=
 infamous archimedes=C2=A0screw and it is unlikely=C2=A0to fail catastrophi=
cally.

urrent LEDs or LEDs with associated ballast resistors are necessary to flow=

I fully agree with your description of an 'old' flasher=C2=A0unit but it wa=
s not a bi-metal strip but a wire under tension that extended and lost its =
tension when current went through it and cut off the current, similar to a =
bi-metal strip. The wire then cooled and shrank allowing the current to flo=
w again.

running theme. I purchased a BJ7 in the mid 1990s. Started restoring. Moved

added it to the registry with the info he provided.&nbsp; I saw it come up =
for sale
by a dealer in 2012 and notified him.&nbsp; He was able to recover it, 42 y=
ears
after it was stolen.&nbsp; </span></p>=20

ers of Healeys are
interested in the previous ownership history of their cars, but there is no
other place except the&nbsp; BJ8 Registry (for BJ8s, of course) where the c=

ownership record can be documented and preserved for those who come after u=
s.&nbsp;
It makes it possible for one owner of a car to contact the other owners if =
they
wish to do so.</span></p>=20

running theme. I purchased a BJ7 in the mid 1990s. Started restoring. Moved
several times. When I retrieved it from a rental garage (four years ago aft=

having stored it five years) the interior had been stolen. It was in separa=

boxes waiting for me to finish the body. So now I have no seats, carpets, d=
oor
cards or interior trim. It was all leather and worth several grand. That to=
ok
the steam out of me finishing the car. <br>

I'm retiring this spring so I hope to put the time (and money) into get it
done. Well see if this happens or if I too end up selling and enjoying a
different car. Though I could give it to a 20 something nephew has the skil=
l to
finish it. He is not yet shown interest in something like that, he's more i=

mid-80s pick-up trucks. But tastes change.<br>

Good luck with the paring down of projects. Life gets shorter and we all ha=

p;unit but it was not a bi-metal strip but a wire under tension that extend=
ed and lost its tension when current went through it and cut off the curren=
t, similar to a bi-metal strip. The wire then cooled and shrank allowing th=
