Hello
The 100 petrol caps are in the boot and have a little chain connecting it to
the filler tube. The same with the Healey 2.4 Litre.

Subject: Re: [Healeys] Gas Filler Cap
During my drive to Open Roads in Lake Tahoe in 2002, I filled my tank and
drove away, not discovering until I stopped later that the noise I heard
like something falling off the car was the petrol cap. I had laid it on the
top cover, as was my habit during fueling. After a futile search for it
over the last 20 miles, I came across a NAPA store in the country. Well,
there is no chance they will have a Healey gas cap, but I went in to check
anyway. The clerk simply asked "locking or non-locking?" and produced one
exactly like the one I lost. I don't know if it was BMC factory original,
but if not it was close enough, and certainly better than duct tape.
The moral of the story: since then I have made it a firm practice to put
the cap in a pocket during fueling, and I have not lost another one.

Subject: [Healeys] Gas Filler Cap
Hi all, I foolishly drove off from the gas station and left my original
filler cap on the rear seat back. It fell of on the road and was run over.
Much misery ensued.
I could buy a new replacement but they are not quite the same as the
originals, so does anyone out there have a used original filler cap they
will part with? I have a BT7, but I believe the same cap was fitted to all
the 6 cyl cars, and perhaps the 100s as well, but I am not sure of that.
If you have something, please contact me off-list.
With thanks, Mirek
