Many, many moons ago (around 1963 or so, I was 16 and not really very
Healey wise), my 54, 100-4 was actually being driven daily and not
buried away in the back corner of the race barn/garage like it is
today. I usually used what ever oil was left over in the can (yes, can
back then it was in a can, from oil changes, generally from my Modified
Race Car. What weight , you say?  It was straight 50 Weight,
non-detergent, Oilzum. The car ran well with no ill effects
what-so-ever. The carbs were adjusted using a length of fuel line to
listen for proper synchronization (I certainty didn't have a fancy
synchronization tool or for that matter the extra money to buy one.
