I think the car that was crashed and the car that went to the STates
wereer pretty definitely the same car.
There were people in Europe doing some pretty extreme mods and customs -
and not just for US Forces! - it seems highly plausible that an Italian
who wanted to change direction might have done it and it lookss pretty
well done too.
After all Lamborghini started by building tractors, and we all what
Bugatti thought of Bentleys!
