To get a good compression reading one needs the valves to seal properly,=C2=
=A0 as well as no cracks, broken rings etc. The fact that no. 2 exhaust val=
ve is "a bit black" suggests to me it might be leaking. Might as well grind=
 the valves in, put the head back on and try the compression test again.=C2=
