Most firms will accept Paypal.
Very odd that you can only pay in $$ when paying by regular internet
banking.
The $520 extra is an incredible amount. I have used Western Union in the
very distant past and also at that time they robbed you.
The British banking system is archaic and very reluctant to go online.
There are always problems and complications (even when they were in the
EU) and huge costs paying from and to the UK unless you can pay by
credit card. They rob the public
In the end Paypal is probably the cheapest (+ca. 3,5%) and you can pay
directly with GBP (however rates are not very favourable).
