Hi Gentlemen,
I'm extremely new to this email list so hope I sent the message correctly t=
o all interested, but I own a 55 BN1 fitted with a steering box damper whic=
h I inherited from my grandfather.=C2=A0 I myself am a novice mechanic but =
it's not a stretch to say my grandfather was a master Healey technician.=C2=
=A0 He rebuilt his car from the ground up in the mid 50s after he bought it=
and competed in concourse competition as well as raced slalom/autocross co=
mpetitively with the car in the late 50s and early 60s.=C2=A0 He added the =
steering box damper in 1957.=C2=A0 I was told it provided improved handling=
.=C2=A0 As you may know, slalom courses have extreme handling requirements.=
=C2=A0 I can only assume he knew what he was talking about in regard to the=
improved handling since he was the Southern California slalom champion for=
five years between 1957-62.=C2=A0 Hope this sheds some light on the subjec=
t.
