[Healeys] exhaust downpipes

one of my old healeys many years ago had a straight thru downpipe.  it was no 
problem until the motor mounts got pretty 
weak then the downpipe would hit the frame when accelerating.  replaced motor 
mounts to solve problem.  this problem 
was probably due to poor engineering of the exhaust system replacement.
