The issue is that the metal the original fuel tanks were made from - terne c=
oated steel - became unavailable about 20 years ago.=20
This was a tin - lead coated steel.=20
Aluminium is the best modern solution.=20
I designed my own tank - wider, higher, with a drop tank into the chassis bo=
x below, that the pickup sits in. I drew it up, and had it fabricated in alu=
minium by a brilliant guy at a race fabrication shop 18 years ago.=20
Due to a divorce, I no longer have the drawings and measurements.=20
But I can fit a 6 inch rim in the boot, and 80 litres of fuel, and have no s=
urge related issues, even with 10 litres in it.=20
