I am advised that the existing block was sonic tested and it is bored =
too large to create the ledge the sleeve requires to seat at the bottom. =
A closer to standard size block could easily be sleeved.

I just don=E2=80=99t know enough about these things to know one way or =
the other as I=E2=80=99ve never had an engine rebuilt, let alone =

If the block is original to the car and if the number plate is in place =
the best option would be to sleeve it. Don't allow it to be hot dipped =
or you will loose the number plate. Sleeving will probably be cheaper =
than buying an unknown block and then having to machine it to spec and =
it will restore the bores to the standard dimensions and extend the life =
of the block indefinitely.

It should be able to be be sleeved by a competent machine shop if a =
block is not available.
