Tom,

The bleed screw is on top as any air in the system will seek the highest 
point.  Before he passed, Doug Reid made and sold a bleeder extension 
that put the bleeder screw above the bell housing, next to the cylinder 
head.  If you can find one, it would make future bleeding easier.

If you buy a new master or slave cylinder, make sure that it's 
compatible with silicone.  The last master cylinder I bought wasn't.
