John, A 12 pt. Socket will work barely. The problem with it is that is just barely engages maybe 3/16 inch on each end of some of the flats. Also because the large locking washer behind the nut is curved, a 12 pt socket barely engages the nut in depth due to the chamfer on the socket and the curvature of the locking washer. Having tried this and also using a custom made crowfoot wrench, Id higher recommend finding an 8 pt socket. Sounds like David Nock has them. Thats the way to go IMHO having tried it other ways.
