I rebuilt my steering gear (late model, adjustable). DWR worm (normal ratio) & peg, new bearings & bearing cups. Careful adjustment of shims at front. Bearings seated properly - not cocked. 6 belleville washers. Filled with 00 grease. I've isolated the problem to be in the box, as the binding is still present after I undo the tie rod ball joints from the steering arm. The steering rocker shaft drops into the box easily and has minimal wear in the bushing. I'm at my wit's end - the steering binds at irregular spots no matter how loose I adjust it. -- Steve Gerow Altadena, CA BN6 |
