Welcome to the list, Bob! I have been here since 1996 and I know you will
find it a tremendous resource. Shoulda been here years ago, though.
The silver side is to reflect heat away from the carbs, so it goes toward
the engine.

Subject: [Healeys] 67 BJ8 carb heat shield gasket
First of all, I am new to this list in the last 30 days. What a great
resource! I have learned a tremendous amount in the short time I have been
a member!
I am working on a '67 BJ8 that has sat in my garage since 1992, 25 years
ago! It needs to get on the road again!
The carbs were pulled and rebuilt. I am now mounting them back on the
engine. There are 2 square gaskets (Moss #529-120) that go between the
intake manifold and the insulating block (Moss #696-070) before the heat
shield. On each one there is a silver side and a black side. Which side
goes toward the engine?
I thank you in advance for your help!!!
Bob
