That=E2=80=99s very interesting. Seems like they got the whole thing =

My original BN1 1954 Service Manual has an "ERRATUM ' sticker on the =
inside cover stating :-
=20
Gearbox/overdrive Oil Capacity=20
=20
The combined capacity of the Gearbox and =
overdrive is
5 1/2 Imp. pints (dry) and not 4 1/2 Imp =
pints as stated =20
After draining, 1/4 pint of oil will remain =
in the overdrive
hydraulic system, therefore ,only 5 1/2 =
pints will be required
for refilling. =20
=20
Pubs. 996B and 997A December 1954
=20
So when filling from rebuild add the extra 1/4 pint .... 5 3/4 pints
=20
Later editions may have carried the correction and side and top shift =
gearboxes may vary

has been completely rebuilt and apart from the oil used in the assembly =
it=E2=80=99s completely empty.
=20
My 1968 BMC Workshop Manual (AKD 1179H) that I bought new in September =
1974 for $7.00 states that the oil capacity for a side-shift gearbox =
fitted with an OD is 6 =C2=BC imp pints, 7.5 US pints and 3.55 litres. I =
states the same for a centre-shift box as well. So I will be buying a 4 =

Talking about leaks I was watching a Jay Leno video of his Daimler SP250 =

Offhand, I'd believe the workshop manual first. If you're doing a =
drain-and-fill, you don't know for sure how much residual oil is left so =
you have to go by the dipstick anyway.
